“I’m in my 60s and diagnosed with osteoporosis and must be careful of falling, for the risk of breaking my bones. I find doing exercises in general is very challenging for me.
I feel I have to start my exercise regime somehow and somewhere so I went for trial classes at PW, I tried all 4 movement modalities they offer, here’s my experience with them;
- Yoga: I stepped into a vinyasa group class. I found it very challenging to do a pose like others in class. Even with the teacher giving me options. It’s not the first time that I found it hard to untwist from a yoga pose and I simply get stuck in the pose. After 15 minutes I left class.
- Gyrokinesis: This is a series of nice movements, one flowing into the other. Nice and gentle but still challenging enough. I noticed myself loosening up and feeling less tight.
- Mat Pilates: This was a one on one class. Beginning with a few core exercises, I felt more aligned and that loosened up my body. I recommend a few private lessons to ensure doing the exercises correctly. Mat Pilates is quite nuanced and requires detailed understanding to achieve the most benefit.
- Yamuna Body Rolling: One on one class. As a beginner and being skinny, pressing down into the ball and rolling one vertebra at a time is a bit challenging. Positioning the ball at my shoulder blades helps to release the tension on my neck.
Having experienced all different movement modalities Paradigm Wellness offers, I would think my next step is to get a Rehab Consultation at PW to design the best possible movement regime for my personal situation. ”
